We have a fantastic team of people at Conexus MedStaff! Whether we’re working behind the scenes, over the phone or face-to-face with our nurses and medical technologists, we all have one thing in common: we’re passionate about helping international healthcare professionals realize their dream of working and living in the U.S.

In this article, we’d like to introduce you to our International Recruiter, Vicki Devonside.

Vicki Devonside: helping international healthcare professionals make the move to the U.S.

Vicki lives in England, and joined Conexus MedStaff in 2023. She works with our teams around the world to help international healthcare professionals realize their version of the American dream. Outside of work, Vicki enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid gym-goer.

What attracted you to Conexus and what are you most looking forward to in your role?

I love the vision that Conexus has. That, along with our values, was the main selling point for me. I wanted to be part of an organization that cares about the healthcare professionals’ journey from start to finish – from the interview through to immigration, deployment, and right through until the end of their contract. Something I’m really looking forward to is attending as many of our recruitment events as possible. I love being able to connect with our prospective nurses and medical technologists in person. It’s a great way to get to know them and what’s important to them, while also providing the reassurance that Conexus cares for them and will look after and support them throughout the life-changing journey to a new life in the U.S.

What did you do before joining Conexus?

Before I joined Conexus I worked as a Senior International Recruitment Consultant for two years, helping international nurses who wanted to relocate to the UK. This included assisting them from interview through deployment, and also providing them with post-arrival pastoral care. Before that I was in Apprentice Engineer Recruitment for 14 years, recruiting for global companies.

Which Conexus value (passion, integrity, care and support, family, growth, gratitude) resonates most with you and why?

While I absolutely love all of the Conexus values, but the one that resonates most with me is care and support. I feel strongly about offering the best level of care and support to our healthcare professionals throughout the entirety of their journey with Conexus, so that they can have a successful and happy experience with us. Positive reviews from our healthcare professionals and their families will then help Conexus to grow, as we attract in more nurses and medical technologists. It’s a win for everyone!

What is your favorite memory from working at Conexus?

Traveling to the Philippines in November 2023 to interview candidates in person. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the nurses and medical technologists in person at the beginning of their journey with us. It was also just before Christmas, which was magical – people in the Philippines love Christmas as much as I do, and the 10 decorated trees in the lobby of our hotel made me smile every day! Getting to meet our Conexus colleagues in the Philippines was a brilliant part of that trip too. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.

What has been your most meaningful accomplishment so far?

It has to be bringing my daughter up to be a wonderful young woman, who is achieving greatness in her own life. ❤️

How do you give back to your community?

A cause that I’m passionate about is helping children who are from deprived backgrounds. I love that Conexus encourages us to take time off to do things that help our local community. In 2023, I used my Conexus Community Day to work with a charity in my local area, which helps provide children with access to books and fun learning activities, which they might not have otherwise had. It was a brilliant day, and I continue to help them in my spare time.

What is your favorite holiday destination?

My family and I love going on city breaks, especially Rome and Paris. We recently went on our first cruise through the Norwegian Fjords, which was amazing! While my dream vacation would be the Maldives, my favorite sunny destination is Mauritius. When I was there for my 40th birthday, we hired a private speedboat and swam in the ocean with dolphins.
