Did you know that every nurse who is practicing in the USA has passed the NCLEX-RN exam? This includes every international nurse who has already realized their dream of working in the U.S. If you have a similar dream, your first step towards achieving it should be to take the NCLEX-RN exam.

It’s not going to be easy, but Conexus MedStaff is here to support you along the way.

4 Simple Facts about the NCLEX-RN Exam

So what exactly is the NCLEX-RN exam and how can you take it? Here are a few basics that we think you should know:

  • The term NCLEX-RN is short for "National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurse.”

  • It’s a standardized exam that all RNs must pass in order to obtain a license to work in the USA as a nurse. (American Citizens are not exempt!)

  • You can find a breakdown of the application process and a great deal more about the NCLEX-RN exam on the NCSBN website. If you can’t find answers to your questions there, please let us know. Our in-house immigration specialists are always happy to help.

  • When you take the exam, you’ll need to travel to a registered NCLEX-RN test center. If you are located outside of the USA, there’s a chance that your nearest test centre may not be located in your home country. This means that good preparation and planning is key to taking your exam. If you would like to locate the closest test centre to you, it’s easy to do so via the Pearson VUE website.

Once you’ve decided to move forward with your NCLEX-RN exam, it’s time to start reviewing for the exam. There is a huge amount of NCLEX-RN review material for all learning styles. Revision tools range from books to websites to apps, so there aren’t any excuses for busy nurses who are on the go.

If you don’t feel confident to go it alone or just need an extra push, there are also intensive NCLEX-RN review courses for you to consider. These courses are conducted by specialist companies and usually take place over a few days. Our top tip if you do decide to use a review course, is to take it as close to your exam as possible to make sure you get the full benefit.
