For over a decade, the Calvert Trust has been one of the most valued charitable partnerships at Conexus MedStaff, and this year, they are celebrating a landmark 50th anniversary.
Based in the heart of the Lake District in northern England, the Calvert Trust has been making the great outdoors accessible to everyone since 1976. The charity helps children and adults with disabilities experience outdoor adventure, from sailing and horse riding to climbing, caving and more, in a safe and supportive environment. For many of those who visit, it is transformative: building confidence, improving mental and physical health, and opening doors to experiences that might otherwise feel out of reach.
Over the years, our UK team has supported the Calvert Trust in a number of ways: volunteering on site, attending their annual outdoor theatre events, and taking on personal fundraising challenges. In 2024, a Conexus team member ran the Great North Run to mark ten years of partnership between Conexus and the Calvert Trust. This year, that commitment continues, with another colleague running the 2026 London Marathon.
To mark the occasion, our CEO, Andrew Moreton and his family attended the 50th anniversary celebration at the Calvert Trust Lakes site in Bassenthwaite. Reflecting on the day, he said:
"As a family and as a company, we have been supporting the Calvert Trust for the last decade. It was a great honor to attend the 50th anniversary event and spend time exploring the site, the activities available, and meeting so many incredible people who help make the Calvert Trust Lakes such a special place. It was particularly inspiring to meet John Fryer Spedding, the original founder of the Calvert Trust, who attended the event. What exists today is a testament to the fact that a great idea, supported by amazing people, can flourish into something truly special."
As the Calvert Trust looks ahead to the next 50 years, we look forward to continuing this journey with them. Learn more about our global impact.
