In this article, we’d like to introduce you to our Associate Director of Talent Acquisition, Cheryl Jones.
Cheryl brings a wealth of expertise in the recruitment field to her role at Conexus. She joined the UK-based team in 2023, and is dedicated to finding the ideal role in the U.S. for international healthcare professionals to thrive in. Cheryl often attends our global recruitment events, and enjoys meeting talented, passionate registered nurses and medical technologists who want to explore their U.S. career options.
What attracted you to Conexus and what are you most looking forward to in your role?
I'm extremely passionate about working hard, and it is important to me to work for a company that has a clear vision and is committed to growth and development. During all the conversations I had during my interview process, I was extremely impressed with everyone's passion, motivation, and determination to succeed and deliver great results for all healthcare professionals, clients, and colleagues alike. For me, joining Conexus was a great opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, fast-paced, and expanding company with great leaders.
What did you do before joining Conexus?
I've worked in recruitment for over 25 years. For the last five years, I was Head of Recruitment at a healthcare group, where I was responsible for the team delivering recruitment of all skills into their care homes across England and Scotland.
Which Conexus value (passion, integrity, care and support, family, growth, gratitude) resonates most with you and why?
Passion is the value that resonates most with me. I believe to do a great job you need to be passionate about it. To be successful both personally and as a company we all need to be dedicated and motivated, and you can only do this if you feel a passion for what you do. Having worked in healthcare I understand how important the work we do is, to ensure we support the lives and well-being of others.
Tell us about your life outside of work.
Life outside work is crazy but fun. My husband and I are very social, and we seem to be the ones who are always organizing social events and getting friends and family together. Most weekends we have people staying at our house, and I love being the hostess. When we're not socializing, we like to garden and we love going on long walks with Cooper, our 2-year-old Miniature Golden Doodle.

What is your favorite holiday destination?
I was lucky enough to work in South Africa for 3 months and visited on a couple of other separate occasions. We are hoping to go back there on holiday with our friends as they would love to go, and I would certainly love to go back. We have also just come back from our fourth holiday in Kalkan, Turkey, which will always be my go-to for a nice, relaxing holiday.
What is your favorite holiday or season?
I love autumn – or fall as it’s called in the U.S. I love walking and seeing all the beautiful autumnal colors. The leaves turning on the trees just makes me smile. I also like the clothes you can wear in autumn – they are much more comfortable than summer clothes.
What is your favorite food or meal to cook or eat?
I absolutely love all food - I especially like Thai and Italian. However, my go-to when I'm really hungry has to be a ‘sausage dinner’ – I just love that on a Friday night… and I have to get extra gravy!
