We have a fantastic team of people at Conexus MedStaff! Whether we’re working behind the scenes, over the phone, or face-to-face with our nurses and medical technologists, we all have one thing in common: we’re passionate about helping international healthcare professionals (HCPs) realize their dream of working and living in the U.S.

In this article, we’d like to introduce you to one of our HCP Experience Coordinators, Gladys Vencer Beramo.

Gladys joined the Conexus MedStaff team in August 2023. She works remotely from her home in the Philippines, and was drawn to Conexus MedStaff for the opportunity to, as she describes it, “help people achieve their career and life dreams.”

What is your role at Conexus MedStaff?

As one of the HCP coordinators, I support healthcare professionals from early-stage engagement through to their deployment in the U.S. I guide and support them and their families through every phase of the journey, answering their queries and coordinating with subject matter experts to resolve concerns and issues that they may have along the way.

What did you do before joining Conexus MedStaff?

I was in pharmaceutical sales, managing Territory Managers and traveling extensively locally. During the pandemic I took a health break, shifted my career to try my hand at digital marketing, and went back to my long-forgotten first love - writing.

What is your favorite memory from working at Conexus MedStaff?

A healthcare professional was sharing her experience of passing her English test after a bitter, failed attempt. She was so thrilled. I could feel her struggle and success at the same time. I was tearing up while clapping my hands like bonkers!

Tell us about your life outside of work.

At the moment, my time outside work is devoted to my son's activities, church duties, yoga, and home cooking. If I have extra time – which is very rare – I like to space out, look at something green like the landscape, and dream, read, or free paint using watercolor.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have pets! A pair of cockatiels named Pika and Chu who live with a pair of African love birds named Cyan and Rainbow. We have our dog, Halfie, who is a Maltese/Shih Tzu cross, and Rosie and Cheeky, two fluffy Brahma chickens who used to roam freely inside the house but were transferred back to the farmhouse because they made so much noise during an online meeting. I had to deny they were mine! 🤭😂 We also have a vibrant collection of fighting fish.

What types of books or movies do you enjoy?

I rarely indulge in movies except for the Lord of the Rings series, which I have watched on repeat for many years now. I'm more of a book person… or at least I try to be. I love the classics. I love reading anything Tolkien, C.S. Lewis. My most recent read is ‘The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet’. I collect poems and art books too. Currently, I’m into children’s and comic books, trying to complete my pre-owned collection of “Calvin and Hobbes” and Roald Dahl's for my son's bedtime story.

What is your favorite holiday destination?

All I need is sand on my feet and some peace and quiet. The clean, sandy beaches down south here in our province in the Philippines and our home on the farm are my favorite holiday places to go.

We're thankful for our Conexus team members who are dedicated to helping international nurses and medical laboratory technologists build a life they love in the United States. Learn about our values that drive our commitment to improving the well-being of communities, one healthcare professional at a time.
