The NCLEX-RN Exam for Nurses
By Conexus MedStaff - Posted Sep 4, 2018
Before you can start your nursing career in the U.S., you will need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
Since its launch in April 1994, over 5.4 million nursing candidates have taken the NCLEX-RN exam so they can practice as a registered nurse in the U.S.
Having the NCLEX-RN is a major step towards your life as a Registered Nurse in the U.S., and without it you won’t be able to work as an RN in the U.S. The NCLEX-RN is a computer-based test offered by Pearson VUE that has one purpose and that is: to determine if it’s safe for you to begin practicing as a nurse in the United States. The NCLEX exam does this by testing you on how you can use critical thinking skills to make sound nursing judgments.
NCLEX-RN Exam Guidance
There are many sources out there to guide you through registering for the NCLEX-RN and to help you prepare for the NCLEX-RN examination. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) has a website exclusively dedicated to the NCLEX-RN. Their Pathway to Practice is a good starting point for many international nurses ready to take their NCLEX-RN. The NCSBN portal helps to increase confidence and reduce test anxiety by making sure candidates are fully prepared for the test experience by offering an NCLEX-RN practice exam. They also cover what you will need to do before taking the exam, as well as what you can expect on exam day.
While the NCSBN has a lot of very useful information, we understand how easy it is for international nurses to feel confused and overwhelmed by all of the details and processes. That’s why the team here at Conexus MedStaff is on hand to guide you through the NCLEX-RN process. From advising what Board of Nursing you should apply with, to help you apply for your Credential Evaluation Service Professional Report from the Credentialing Evaluation Service (CES) offered by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools(CGFNS) so that you can begin your NCLEX-RN registration.
