Becoming a U.S. Green Card holder is a dream for many Filipino nurses, but what is it that Filipino nurses in the USA really love about life stateside? Discover the perks of living and working in the United States, as told by nurses who have made the move with the help of global nursing recruiter, Conexus MedStaff, an international agency that makes Green Card jobs accessible for nurses.
Filipino nurses working abroad: from UAE to USA
Filipino nurse Primadel moved to the USA from Abu Dhabi with her family. She wanted to live in “the land of milk and honey”, and was excited about becoming a U.S. citizen. Now she lives in Tennessee, where she finds her new community to be warm and accommodating. One thing that made settling in easier for her was the fact that she has Filipino family neighbors. That made her feel more welcomed and at ease, even though she says that all of the people living around her are kind and supportive.
Primadel finds her workplace in the U.S. to be very supportive and friendly too. Her colleagues are nice and she enjoys meeting people of different nationalities and from a variety of cultures.
She also had a positive experience moving to the United States with Conexus. “I find Conexus trustworthy, accommodating, friendly. I feel so blessed and grateful with Conexus, they have always been so supportive and have guided me and my family all throughout the process. Conexus made sure that we are situated, safe, and that they are there if we need anything. We’re in good hands.”

Green Card for Filipino nurse: Rodfel’s story
It took Rodfel eight years to get his Green Card, making this Filipino nurse’s story a truly inspirational one. He overcame the challenges of retrogression, denied visa applications and failed embassy interviews to make his American dream come true. Through it all though, he said that “Conexus never gave up on me. In my experience, Conexus is very reliable. They’ve been in this business for years and they know their thing. We’re not trials and errors to them, they’ve been sending nurses and medical technologists to the U.S. for years. They have a very competent immigration team.”
While waiting for the opportunity to become a Filipino nurse in the USA, Rodfel relocated to the United Kingdom. “I'm very grateful that I worked in in the UK, but I told Conexus I'm going to pursue my U.S. dream, whatever happens,” he explained. “Working in the UK prepared me for my future practice in the U.S. and I improved my communication skills.”
Now Rodfel is settled as an international nurse in the United States, and is building a new life for himself.

Job opportunities for everybody
For Filipino nurse Angelica, relocating to the USA as an international nurse with Conexus meant better prospects for her children. Her husband, who is also a registered nurse, works in the same hospital as Angelica. “I think the biggest advantage is that the U.S. offers a lot of job opportunities for everybody. My children will learn to be independent too, since children here usually work while they’re studying at college. I think that will be a very good learning experience for them, not only on the education part but mainly for life itself.”
Angelica is enjoying life as a nurse in the United States. “This country is so beautiful and until now it still amazes not just me but my whole family, so really it was not that hard adjusting.”
“Moving to the U.S. has been one of the best choices me and my family made,” Angelica explained. “It has helped my whole family to achieve the life we have always wanted. It has made our life stable and comfortable.”

Respected and happy: Pearl’s USA nurse experience
Pearl, originally from the Philippines, relocated to West Virginia in the United States with her family from Oman. Free education for her children and greater access to healthcare are just two of the perks that inspired Pearl to want to start a new life in the United States.
She claims to feel “respected and happy” at the hospital where she works. According to Pearl, the work assignment loads there are equally distributed, unlike in previous jobs she’s worked at elsewhere in the world. Pearl says that she’s treated very well, is very respected in her social life, and appreciates having freedom of speech. The ability to be open with her religious beliefs is something she finds liberating, as she can pray and read her Bible anywhere in the USA. Pearl is an active member in her church and has found it very easy to make friends in her local community, where the residents are, in her own words, “so sweet”.
The advice she shares with other international nurses who want to move to the United States is to “trust Conexus MedStaff and the people who support you on your journey.”
