Our Process
For International Registered Nurses
The path to your dreams starts here.
See how we support you, every step of the way.
Every journey from home to the U.S. is unique, and every learning plan is customized to your individual needs as a healthcare professional. But these are the signature steps to success that the Conexus team is thrilled to help you take.
1. Getting to Know Your Dreams and Goals
During the interview process, we learn more about your goals and dreams for living and working in the U.S. so that we can help achieve them. Here, you can ask questions about the support and growth opportunities we provide to Conexus employees.
You’ll be able to ask questions about the immigration process, visas, and working in U.S. hospitals with Conexus. If you’re a qualified nurse who is a good fit for the needs of our clients, our team will extend a verbal contract to you at the end of the interview. Or, if you don’t meet our qualifications, your recruiter will let you know why and offer suggestions on next steps.
2. Join the Conexus Community
Electronic employment agreements are issued, clearly detailing what you can expect from Conexus and what we expect from you, including the term of your employment.
Your unsigned contract expires after 30 days. Once signed, you officially become a member part of the Conexus community and benefit from our education and support starting long before you arrive in the U.S.
3. Identify Clinical Competencies
The Conexus Clinical Competency Assessment begins with an interview with no right or wrong answers—the goal is to determine your clinical strengths and create a plan to prepare you for work in a U.S. hospital.
A Conexus educator will assess your clinical skills, identify your strongest skillset, and issue a second checklist. Once that’s complete, you’ll advance to the selection process and be matched with your U.S. hospital assignment.
4. Get Your Assignment
We aim for the best physical and cultural fit based on your preferences so that you can start your new life in the U.S. ready to succeed.
During the selection process, we pay close attention to your desired career pathway, proximity to U.S. family members, preferred climate, good schools, and more. You’ll interview for a specific role in a specific location to determine if it’s a match.
5. Begin Conexus Academy
Through Conexus Academy, we will build your confidence and competency from the very beginning of your employment, as you grow, and throughout your time with us.
Our educators guide you along with contextual and practical training. We help you get used to your U.S. clinical setting and create a personalized plan for your career growth. And throughout your entire employment with Conexus, we continue to provide hands-on training and coaching.
6. Start the Immigration Process
Our expert in-house immigration team is committed to making your immigration process as simple as possible. In fact, many of them have been through the U.S. immigration process and can provide you with confidence and insight into your immigration case.
While each case varies, our immigration team will partner with you to secure your U.S. work visa and apply for your Green Card at the end of your contract.
7. Move to the U.S.
Our onboarding and deployment department handles critical elements of your journey, whether you’re in the U.S. or moving there. Based on your needs, we support a smooth transition into your new community. Count on Conexus to do everything we can to ensure you feel welcomed and supported.
Our licensing team takes care of everything to ensure you’re ready and endorsed to work with a state license. Our deployment team supports you as you travel and provides local support in the U.S. including housing, banking, schooling, special needs for your family, and anything else you need to get settled.
8. Start Your New U.S. Nursing Career
Once you’ve settled into your new community, we help you take care of any final details to ensure you’re confident and ready to start your new U.S. career.
This phase includes activities like your health assessment, drug screening, vaccinations, social security number, work authorization, background check, and your proof of licensure to practice in the state. Once all the documentation is in place, a member of our Engagement Team will provide you detailed information about your first day and answer any questions you have about your new community.
9. Continue Growing and Learning
Our support, your development, and the Conexus community don’t end with day one on the job. In fact, it’s just the beginning.
We continue providing you with skills and educational opportunities to stay track to your career goals. You’ll also be supported by the Conexus community where you and your family can connect with others like you.
10. Preparing and Passing the NCLEX Exam
If you have not taken the NCLEX exam, Conexus can help. Once you’re accepted to the Conexus MedStaff NCLEX Sponsorship program after passing our NCLEX predictor test, we provide the curriculum and support to prepare you.
Our licensing team works to obtain your eligibility to test from the Board of Nursing and we take care of all the details and test preparation support so you can focus on passing your NCLEX exam. Once your eligibility to test is received, we make the necessary arrangements for you to take the NCLEX test in person at an NCLEX testing center, including flight and hotel accommodations, if required.
