The Ultra: 50km Hike for Ambitious About Autism

By Conexus MedStaff - Posted Aug 14, 2025

On June 29th, our CEO, Andrew, successfully undertook an ultra-endurance challenge: a 50km hike through the beautiful Peak District to raise funds for Ambitious About Autism. The one-day trek included an elevation gain of up to 900 meters, making it a serious physical and personal test, all in support of an incredible cause.

“Over the past few years, as our two sons, Arnie and Gus, have begun to carve their own paths, we’ve encountered some unexpected twists and turns,” Andrew shares.

“Both were diagnosed with ADHD at an early age, and our family has been on a journey of understanding and adaptation ever since, helping them overcome challenges at school and in daily life while supporting them to be the best version of themselves and thrive as individuals.”

Andrew’s youngest son is currently undergoing assessments for autism. Although a formal diagnosis is still pending, the experience has opened his family’s eyes to the extraordinary professionals and support networks that help families navigate similar paths.

“These individuals and organisations provide vital guidance, giving children and their families the best possible opportunities to succeed, feel supported and make the most of the opportunities that life can bring, ” Andrew adds.

Through this 50km hike, Andrew aims not only to raise much needed funds but also to increase awareness of the evolving understanding of autism and neurodiversity.

He says: “Autism awareness is growing, but it’s not always a straightforward path. I’m proud to have already raised over £1,000, and I hope this effort helps Ambitious About Autism make a positive impact by continuing their amazing work supporting young people and families living with autism across the UK.”
