Jessica's story: OR Nurse from Taiwan Shares her Experience Moving to the U.S. with Goals to become CRNA

By Conexus MedStaff  -  Posted June 21, 2024

Career growth and opportunities to build a future are what drive many international nurses to start their U.S. nursing jobs with Conexus MedStaff. That’s what motivated Jessica, a registered nurse from Taiwan, to make a move to the United States. Prior to her move, Jessica was working as an OR nurse.

Here’s what she says about her journey to becoming a U.S. nurse, in her own words:

Why did you decide to move to the U.S. to continue your career as an OR nurse?

When I moved to the U.S., I knew I wanted to stay in my familiar field and keep growing in my career. I feel a successful OR nurse is someone that keeps learning every day – staying aware of the latest instruments, equipment, and technology – and desiring continued growth.

What was your experience like with immigration?

Conexus has provided me with a lot of support throughout my journey to the U.S. Immigration is complicated but the Conexus team has led me through all the processes.

What is it like working in a U.S. hospital?

My assigned facility has a friendly working environment – my colleagues are so nice and lovely to me. The unit leaders encourage everyone to ask questions and encourages growth, which makes me feel comfortable asking for help.

What are your career goals in nursing?

My goal is to become a CRNA. To reach this goal, I need to have two-years of acute care experience before I am eligible for the test. My assignment with Conexus is giving me the opportunity to gain this experience in PACU and open-heart recovery.

We are thankful and honored that Conexus MedStaff nurses like Jessica trust us to help build their future as U.S. nurses. We are always ready to welcome international nurses looking for nursing opportunities in the United States, as well as U.S.-trained international nursing graduates with F1 Status.
