Scholar Spotlight: Ashley Mae
By Conexus MedStaff - Posted Nov 25, 2025

Ashley Mae, a nursing graduate from Far Eastern University in the Philippines, discovered her passion for nursing in 2019 while visiting her father in the hospital. Witnessing the compassion and dedication of the nurses who cared for him inspired her to pursue the profession herself.
Despite completing senior high school in Information Technology, Ashley chose to follow her passion for healthcare, supported by her family, especially her late father, who encouraged her every step of the way. During her studies, she faced the challenges of the pandemic and the demands of clinical rotations, including hospital and psychiatric settings. These experiences strengthened her commitment to nursing and helped her develop leadership and patient-care skills.
Ashley is one of several recipients of the Conexus Community Scholarship, an initiative designed to support aspiring nurses in the Philippines. The scholarship provides financial support, mentorship, and access to professional development opportunities, and reflects our commitment to investing in future healthcare professionals and strengthening the nursing workforce both locally and globally.
For Ashley, the scholarship has been a meaningful part of her journey. It has given her access to resources and networks that enhance her education and career preparation. “I believe that every challenge I overcome is a step toward success and better care for those I will serve,” she says. She hopes to contribute to a healthcare system in the Philippines where accurate diagnoses, proper treatment, and equitable care are accessible to all.
“I aspire not only to earn the title of being a registered nurse, but to live it fully, serving with compassion, skill and purpose. Though I began with uncertainty, I now move forward with confidence, ready to make a lasting difference in the lives of others.”
Conexus is proud to support Ashley and other scholars as they work toward becoming skilled, compassionate nurses who make a real difference in healthcare locally and globally.
