Guide to restarting with a Priority Date

By Conexus MedStaff - Posted Sep 17, 2025

If you have passed the NCLEX and secured a Priority Date but your journey stalled with a previous sponsor, you are not alone. Thousands of international nurses have been left uncertain about whether their Priority Date still counts. The good news is your Priority Date is still valid, and Conexus can help you restart the process.

What is a Priority Date?

A Priority Date is the date your I-140 petition is filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It establishes your place in line for an immigrant visa and determines when you can apply for a green card. Even if a former sponsor abandoned your case, your Priority Date can often be “recaptured” so you do not lose your place in the line.

How Conexus help you restart

  • Recapturing your Priority Date. Our in-house immigration team reviews your case and works to recapture your Priority Date, so you do not have to start all over again.
  • Full immigration sponsorship. We handle the EB-3 visa process from start to finish, covering all immigration expenses.
  • Deployment. Eligible Priority Date holders may be able to deploy in as little as 2-4 months, depending on visa bulletin movement.
  • Bonus support. Nurses restarting with an active Priority Date may qualify for a Conexus bonus of up to $7,500.

This means that you can

  • Keep the process you have already made
  • Receive transparent legal and immigration support
  • Move faster towards your U.S. nursing career.
