Supporting community health in Manila: Conexus volunteers with ACAP

On 9 July, Conexus employees, scholars, and healthcare professionals came together in Parañaque City, Manila, to volunteer with Action for the Care and Development of the Poor (ACAP).
Working alongside ACAP’s team at the Ipil Daycare Center, the Conexus group helped prepare and distribute nutritious meals and food parcels to local children and families as part of the organisation’s ongoing feeding programme.
This volunteer event marks the beginning of a new partnership between Conexus and ACAP, one built on a shared commitment to community wellbeing, sustainable support, and the power of collective action.
This community-based initiative addresses hunger and malnutrition among children aged six months to five years, as well as malnourished pregnant and lactating mothers in underserved communities. The program has been shown to improve growth outcomes in children while also educating parents and caregivers on healthy feeding practices, safe food handling, and basic nutrition.
As part of the day, Conexus also led a hands-on first aid training session for parents, day care staff and health workers from the province of Barangay. The session covered essential everyday skills such as CPR, wound care and responding to burns or fainting. For many, it was their first experience when it came to learning lifesaving techniques.
Benjie Jalasco, Community Development Manager for Conexus and a registered nurse, said: “As well as supporting the community by providing everyday nutrition through the feeding program, we wanted to share our expertise. Essential first aid skills can make a big difference when someone’s in need.”
At Conexus, we’re committed to making a global impact on healthcare, not just through staffing, but by investing in communities. In addition to our volunteer day, we are proud to provide a 2025 healthcare grant to ACAP to help expand their reach, improve access to care and support stronger health and educational outcomes for children and families in need.
Together, we’re working toward a healthier future for all.
