We understand the challenges international nurses and healthcare workers can face when they arrive to work in the US. That’s why we have our award-winning Conexus MedStaff U.S. Ready Program, which will provide information and education to set you up for success as a nurse in the U.S.We know it’s not easy as simply moving from your home country to the U.S. to work as an international registered nurse. From our decade of working with international registered nurses, Conexus MedStaff has seen first-hand the obstacles our international nurses face when they integrate into a U.S. workforce. Being uprooted from your home, your local hospital practices, and your culture is bound to come with its own challenges, that’s why we believe in the importance of preparing all of our international healthcare workers for working life in the USA.Projections show the number of immigrant healthcare workers will continue to rise in the USA (having already increased by 40% between 2006 and 2015). With 15% of America’s registered nurses being foreign-born, Conexus MedStaff appreciates the importance of supporting internationally-educated registered nurses and other healthcare workers as they enter and adjust to an American workplace. What is the U.S. Ready Program? The Conexus Medstaff team work with all of our candidates to help them overcome linguistic and cultural challenges prior to them starting work in the USA as a healthcare professional, through our US Ready continued learning program. As part of this program, our healthcare professionals will learn more about practicing in the USA, the nurse lead environment of US hospitals, as well as the social challenges of living in a new country. The program, which has been put together by Conexus’ clinically trained staff, will be made up of six different modules, which will touch on practices such as medication administration, chatting on Electronic Health Records (EHR) plus more. The program will also get our international healthcare professionals ready for the cultural and linguistic obstacles that are often experienced by international healthcare professionals in a U.S. workforce. U.S. Ready and BeyondOn top of inviting all of our healthcare candidates to join our U.S. Ready program, we enroll all of our international nurses and healthcare workers on an Orientation at their new workplace. To make this transition easier for our registered nurses and healthcare workers we ensure that all our hospitals in the USA offer our candidates a 12-to-14-week Orientation. This means that for your first three months you will be working alongside a preceptor and will have their continued support as you become familiar with your new workplace. By the end of your Orientation, you will feel confident to hit the ground running in your new role in the USA.We believe that happiness at work really matters. A University of Warwick study found that people who are happy at work are 12% more productive. By providing a smooth transition to practice and continued learning to all of our international healthcare workers, we ensure that their move to a US workforce runs as perfectly as possible. We believe that by helping international nurses and healthcare professionals settle into their new workplace, we help each and every one of them to be confident and happy in their new healthcare role in the U.S.
