Emigration Journey for International Allied Health Professionals
Now you’ve secured your new position in the USA, we will get to work on the visa process for you. At Conexus, we handle your visa application from start to finish so you don’t have to worry about a thing. All we will need from you are the relevant documents.
There are a number of visas that may be available to you. It’s our job to work with you to find out which one best suits you as an individual, and gets you to the USA as quickly as possible. It is likely that one of the following visas will apply:
Through the EB-3 visa there is the option for your dependents to be sponsored as it allows USA residency with no expiry date. You are eligible for an EB-3 if you are a skilled worker or a professional. Skilled workers include people who have trained for at least two years to enable them to do their job to a high standard. Professional means that you have the equivalent to a US baccalaureate degree and hold membership of a professional organization.
EB-2 visas apply to professionals wishing to work in the USA who have completed advanced degrees (Master’s degree or higher) in their specialist area or who demonstrate exceptional ability which will enrich the nation economically, culturally or educationally. Depending on your circumstances, this option as potentially quicker visa processing times.
A H-1B visa for the US allows American companies to employ highly-specialised employees for occupations which require a high standard of technical expertise. The minimum entry requirement is a Bachelor’s or higher degree (or equivalent) which must be specific to the field in which you work.
The H-1B visa has two different routes, the capped and the uncapped. Luckily for us, some of our major clients satisfy the uncapped criteria, meaning that we can apply for this visa all year round and do not have to worry about the quota of visa applications filling quickly, unlike the capped route!
A TN visa is for citizens of Canada or Mexico who wish to live and work in the USA. Professions which are eligible for a TN visa include scientists, biochemists, occupational therapists and pharmacists, among others. Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have the appropriate professional qualifications to enable them to perform their role.
An E3 visa is for Australian citizens who wish to live and work in the USA. . Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have the appropriate professional qualifications to enable them to perform their role.

At this stage in the process we will make sure that you have all of the required documents up-to-date and ready so that we are prepared for the next step in your emigration journey. Whether it’s your passport or an active license, the Conexus team will be on hand to help gather and obtain relevant documents to ensure that the visa process runs as quickly and as smoothly as possible.
The next stage is the client interview, which will be carried out when you are around three months away from your embassy interview. We will set up the client interviews for you and we will make sure to only set up interviews with hospitals we feel will match with your personal and professional preferences.
You will need to pass your client interview and know where you are going to be working in the USA ahead of your embassy interview as you will be required to take your offer letter confirming these details to your embassy interview.
At this stage we will send you one of our Orientation packs that will give you more information about the location you will be living and working in. We will also put you in to contact with our community of nurses that are currently working at your new hospital so that you can speak to people who have already been through a similar experience.
Things are starting to get very real and even more exciting at this point in the process! We will schedule an interview for you, and if applicable, your family at your local US Embassy. A few days after your interview you will receive your visa, which means you will be almost ready for your next adventure!
Because the Conexus team are with you every step of the way, we will carry out preparation interviews with you over the phone before your real interview so that you know the right things to say, we will also give you a checklist for all of the documents you will need to take.
Here you go! In order to make your transition to a new country as smooth as possible, Conexus will do everything that we can to prepare you and, if applicable, your family for arrival in the USA, including booking your flights, arranging accommodation and laying out your deployment itinerary.
As soon as you land at the airport, a member of the Conexus team will be there to greet you and take you to your new home. We will spend time going through orientation at both your new place of work and your new community, making sure you know all of the essentials – we’ll even make sure you know how to get to work and where to do your grocery shopping. Also, to ensure you’re ready to start your new job, we will go through your employee handbook, policies and procedures with you.
And because we understand how important it is to be part of a supportive community, we will introduce you to other Conexus candidates working in your area as part of our buddy system. We also make sure that you are connected to the wider Conexus network via our social media channels so you can always stay in touch with people who have been through a similar experience to you.
During your assignment we are there to support you with our network of officers in the USA. Your account manager will make periodic site visits and later in the assignments we will be there to talk about career options after completing the assignment. We are truly with you every step of the way!
